?Why?
This is a super easy way to build your long-term basic food supply for about $12 a week per person
?How?
Orders can be placed once a month with your Ward Preparedness Specialist. If you order every month you will have a year supply for one person by the end of the year! Delivery and pick up will be at your Church building in your ward clerk’s office. Your boxes will be labeled with your last name.
Pick up is the third Sunday of the month. If your order is not picked up within three weeks, it will be donated to Harvesters.
?Where?
Products are purchased from the Home Storage Center in Kansas City Missouri. The Home Storage Center was designed for use of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to purchase basic foods for their short- and long-term food storage, it is also open to the community. You can easily store all the cans under a twin-sized bed.
?How Long will it store?
Stores for 30+ years at 75degrees and below.
?Why should I participate?
Every great food storage program begins with a great foundation of basic foods.
This will provide a foundation of real meals based on over 2,200 calories per day.
The chart on the flip side of the paper shows how you can build a basic year supply for one person for around $48 a month (about the cost of a dinner for two). When you purchase items from a Home Storage Center (formally the LDS Dry Pack Cannery) you can save up to $1,000 over other food storage retailers.
When you check these off your list, add 8 lbs. salt (iodized or sea salt) • 2 lbs. baking soda and baking powder • 4 gallons oil (vegetable, canola, olive, shortening) • 2 lbs. yeast. Then it’s time to add some variety: fruits, veggies, meat, cheese, eggs, etc.
Most items are pre-packaged in #10 cans, with a few items in small bags. They also carry peanut butter, granola, honey, and water filter bottles.
